I’ve recently visited Venice for a couple of days. I had tiramisu during every meal. It’s ubiquitous. Every restaurant prepares this delicious dessert, homemade “della casa”.
Pick me up! Never could a name be more appropriate. Sugar, coffee, and a very rich creamy cheese for a dessert of international repute. Energy, mood, weight – tiramisu can boost all the aforementioned. The king of Italian treats. A classic.
I’ve recently returned from a brief trip to Venice. I indulged in tiramisu at the end of every meal. That’s because on the menu of all the restaurants I ate at during my stay, they flaunted this sweet course as “della casa” [of the house], a detail I could not let slip by. The same dessert, sure, but with the personal touch of the chef who had prepared it.
Now, back home, I’m still dreaming of my Venetian tiramisu adventures. In this article, you will find out about the contested origin of the dessert, insights into each ingredient, and a recipe with images (yes, based on my execution) so you can make this amazingly soft and comforting cake at home… if an escape to Venice is out of the question. 😊
